Ratcat & JPY Return!

Interview about new single with Simon Day & Picture

Ratcat & John Paul Young unite and return with a new single
Ratcat and John Paul Young have joined forces to record a new version of JPY's 1976 #2 hit - 'I Hate The Music'. The song has been re-worked for the big buzzing Australian film 'Occasional Coarse Language'. JPY and Ratcat's Simon Day share the vocal duties on this version which totally rocks while remaining true to the original - even down to Harry Vanda and George Young on backing vocals and tambourine from the chart topping original. The single comes with some cool b-side including Ratcat's version of Jebediah's 'Blame' and their own classic tune 'Go Go', re-mastered and sounding fresh as ever!

The track will be released as a single on October 12th and is included on the soundtrack album out in early November. Joining Ratcat & JPY on the album are The Living End, You Am I, Jebediah, Spiderbait, Ammonia, Grinspoon, Automatic and many more!

The film is the directorial debut for Brad Hayward, who also wrote and co-produce the movie. Occasional Coarse language opens on November 26 at cinemas around Australia.

hi there tingles,

thought I'd fill you in on some new action that has been happening
on the Ratcat front. You may have heard that Simon has been playing a few
shows with Sneeze (Tom Morgan, Lara Meyerratken from Lustre 4 and myself)
lately.

The first one was at the Annandale a few weeks ago on the Tuesday night "In
Cahoots" residency where Simon played a fantastic set on his own comprising
of new and old tunes and then at the end of the Sneeze set Simon and Sneeze
played 6 songs: That Aint Bad, Go Go, Baby Baby, Don't Go Now, Soft As
Velvet and I Think We're Alone Now.

Last Sunday they repeated the set on the roof of the Half A Cow Bookstore
for the Glebe Fair Day and there was a huge crowd on the street looking up
at this unannounced surprise show that had everyone singing along.

It's happening again! On Tuesday 17th December at the Annandale "In Cahoots"
with Sneeze and Simon Day plus other guests.

I'll plug the 41 track "Sneeze" ceedee which features Simon Day singing and
playing on the track "Pedal". Sneeze also perform their own "Ratcat" song
called "Pins And Needles". Tom and myself have long been Fans of Ratcat and
are honoured to be playing with Simon. It's a lot of fun.

Well done for doing the web site!
Bye,
Nic
